こんちわ! When people talk about Japanese Anime, they usually bring up Naruto, Dragon Ball Z, or Detective Conan, but my personal all-time favorite is Fullmetal Alchemist (鋼の錬金術師), the 2009 version. It was first written and illustrated by Hiromu Arakawa ( 荒川 弘 ) as a manga series. It was adapted to anime twice and I prefer the later one. It attracted great attention once it was released and it still considered to be one of the best anime. In this series, all characters are depicted very carefully and designed to be memorable like the arrogant but very capable Roy Mustang, but my personal favorite would be Edward Elric (エドワード・エルリック). He and his younger brother Alphonse Elric experienced extreme grief and pain when their father left them and their mother passed away. They tried to revive their mother by performing the worst taboo among alchemists, the Human Alchemization (人体練成), but they failed.
