Why I choose to study Japanese
I was a Spanish learner last year because everybody was telling me that Spanish was extremely useful and could build up your resume. Soon I discovered that I could not learn Spanish well because there was no context in my life to force me to use Spanish everyday. I took the class, I passed the test, but I had learnt nothing after one semester. After that, I realized that I should always learn something I am interested in and have context to live in.
That's why I choose to learn Japanese this year. I watch lots of anime, I read manga, I know a little about Japanese Idol, I am interested in Japan's history and overall, I am curious about Japanese culture. Been to there last summer, I felt that this country has a special quality that I can definitely learn from. All these together brought me to this Japanese course.
I am really excited to see how does my former experience with Japanese add up in this class and how this course will influence my future interaction with Japanese. I hope I can become a well-learnt Japanese speaker in the future.

Good evening!
I am Tokuda, Teaching Assistant.
What anime/manga are your favorite? I also love them.
I am glad that you are very passionate to learn Japanese.
I hope I can tell about Japan and help you learn Japanese.
Let's enjoy learning Japanese together!

DeleteThanks for your reply!
My current favorite ones are 宇宙パトロールルル子, Steins;Gate and 鋼の錬金術師FA.
Hope we can talk about anime sometime.
I don't know whether 鋼の錬金術師FA refers to the first anime or the later one (romanized as Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), but I can at least recognize what franchise you're talking about. FMA: Brotherhood is one of my favorite anime (though I must admit I haven't read the manga or seen the first anime adaptation).
DeleteYes! By 鋼の錬金術師FA, I refer to the later one, which is a fantastic work. I have both read the manga and watched the anime. I've seen some parts of the first one, but I heard that it's also very good.
DeleteI studied French and Latin in high school, but never Spanish. I never really had a context to use them in, but I had fun learning anyway. Hopefully we'll both have fun learning Japanese!
ReplyDeleteInterest is the best teacher. I am pretty sure you would do well in this class!
ReplyDelete鋼の錬金術師FA is also one of my favorites! 03 is a bit strange (Maybe just because I hate the ending) but FA is a really good one!
